Can you use LVL exterior? What is versa Lam beam? How much is a LVL beam? Glue Laminated (Glulam) Beams Timber Technologies Glue Laminated Beams are superior in all strength characteristics to solid sawn lumber and pound for poun stronger than steel.
Laminated veneer lumber (LVL) beams eliminate twisting, shrinking and splitting and deliver flatter, quieter floors and structures. Glulam is a stress-rated engineered wood beam composed of wood laminations, or lams , that are bonded together with durable, moisture-resistant adhesives. The grain of the laminations runs parallel with the length of the member. Glulam is versatile, ranging from simple, straight beams to complex, curved members.
Shop lvl and a variety of building supplies products online at Lowes. Versa Lam Laminated Veneer Lumber. LVL offers several advantages over typical milled lumber : Made in a factory under controlled specifications, it is stronger, straighter and more uniform. LVL is similar in appearance to plywood without cross bands.
Beams of more than one ply must be fastened together with either nails or bolts. Made of SYP to a performance level of 1. Zero camber – Balanced Beam (Not designated top or bottom for ease of installation). The treatment protects the glulam beam from rot, decay and insects. Its high strength is great for decks allowing for wider spacing between support posts enlarging the unobstructed view and usable space under the deck.
AITC Beam Capacity Tables AITC Capacity Tables provide the uniformly distributed load that a glued laminated timber beam can support based on beam size, span and material properties. Table specifications are provided with each table indicating conditions and assumptions used to calculate the loads. These tables are provided as a guideline. Each piece of this lumber is actually composed of smaller, micro-thin layers of wood that are glued together—or laminated.
Treated glulam beams are pressure treated with a Hi-Clear II, a clear industrial wood preservative. It leaves a light honey color finish that is virtually undetectable to the naked eye. It is intended for above ground exterior applications and is most common for raised deck beams.
Anthony Power Beam (APB) is a relative newcomer to the structural beam market positioned to compete with LVL and Parallam. Depths range from ¼” to 18″, matching standard I-joist depths. The use of multiple laminating grades in different design values in compression perpendicular to grain for the top and bottom and for the side faces of a beam. One value is tabulated for use in bearing on the top or bottom of the beam and one value is tabulated for side bearing to simplify design.
We think about it every day and are always innovating to enable the latest electronic devices. It’s why nearly every advanced chip today is built with Lam Research technology. Glued laminated timber, also abbreviated glulam, is a type of structural engineered wood product constituted by layers of dimensional lumber bonded together with durable, moisture-resistant structural adhesives. In North America, the material providing the laminations is termed laminating stock or lamstock. They can easily be built-up on site to reduce heavy lifting.
No matter where they’re use they install quickly with little or no waste. The highest strength lumber is placed in the tension and compression zones, efficiently and optimally using lumber resources. LSL, larger holes can be drilled through the beam. Actual stamps shown.
LF beams were for Anthony power beams (a glue lam ) but they were not architectural grade (ie rough sanded). I do buy a lot of stuff from these guys and they stock most of the sizes etc. or create an account to post a comment.
