Spanish cedar

Older, slower-growing trees from the wild tend to produce wood that is more durable than wood from younger, plantation-grown trees. The wood’s grain is usually quite straight and works well with both hand and power tools. It is actually closer to a Mahogany.

However, this name is not quite right, botanically speaking. The Cedrela is not a conifer tree (a tree with needles), but rather a deciduous tree (softwood). Much of our stock is figured cedar and these are typically used on external projects surfaces because of the shimmering character.

It’s an attractive species with medium luster, and straight to interlocked grain. Its coloring is light pinkish- to reddish-brown, and it darkens with age.


The tray can easily accommodate two layers of cigars to maximize storage space. I dont think having the spanish cedar is no long as important as it used be. Humidifier technology is alot better and no long is there a need for the humidor to store moisture in the wood.


All of mine have a urathane coating to keep the wood from absorbing any moisture and to keep the aroma of the wood out of the cigars.
