Flooring Is All We Do. The strength characteristics of Pecan are somewhat influenced by the spacing of its growth rings. Pecan wood is very dense and durable, making it an ideal choice for furniture. Because we are a small, specialty mill we hand select logs with mostly heartwood and are able to allow our Pecan logs to develop spalting.

Pecan has slightly lower strength values than some of the other species of Hickory, but it is still among the hardest and strongest of woods native to the United States. In the limited experience I have had working Hickory, it works pretty much like White Oak, and a lot like Ash.
