These curly maple wood veneer sheets are known by many names including flame, tiger, and fiddleback maple. The real beauty of a great curly maple veneer can be seen without any special finish. Until recently I had never seen anything with such an amazing curl and shimmer so we bought the entire stock. What you will find here is outstanding veneer that exceeds the normal 5-star rating that we use.
Veneer Species Guide. When the figure is tight it is often referred to as fiddleback maple. It is lustrous and rather striking in appearance. AA grade quality rating.
Trim with utility knife or similar. It has a smooth texture and tight uniform grain. It will accept stains and finishes well but is most often finished with a clear coat that preserves the warmth and accentuates the color and beauty of the wood’s natural grain.
